Joe Dellosa

I want to communicate with people in a way that helps make our culture more interesting, thoughtful, and honest. Preferably while still being able to make rent.

When we ask people for some of their time, we have a responsibility not to waste it. And when we can affect culture, we have a responsibility not to make it any more dishonest, unintelligent, or selfish.

These aren't pie-in-the-sky ideals or cloying objective statements on a résumé; these are real responsibilities. And they're responsibilities that apply regardless of whatever client you're assigned or whatever ethos the agency you work for tries to drill into its employees.

Ultimately, everything we produce has to be judged with just a few basic questions: Did we make someone smarter or dumber? Did we increase or decrease the total amount of honesty in the world? Did we make our world a little bit more understanding or a little bit more thoughtless today?

I care about these questions because I care about the work I produce—and more importantly, I care about the people who will see my work and the culture that will be changed, minutely or otherwise, by it.
